Rather than asserting dominance over the land, the home is nestled directly into the sloping grade that drops steeply from the road toward a heavily wooded backyard. Designed in a modern architectural style, the home relies on the interplay of horizontal and vertical planes rather than traditional walls to shape its spaces. Architectural fins and vertical masses intersect with deep roof overhangs which provide shade during warmer months while expansive glass walls invite natural light from all sides. Strategic openings cut into the roof bring controlled light to exterior plantings and outdoor gathering spaces, creating an environment where the boundaries between inside and out seem to dissolve. The main level centered on comfortable, everyday living. It features a private primary suite, a dedicated office and an art studio that can easily double as a guest suite. It’s filled with ambient light, enhanced by a high ceiling and transom windows on all four sides. Every detail has been meticulously considered, from flush baseboards and casings to discreet touches like a hidden television in the primary suite. The walkout lower level takes full advantage of the property's steep grade, expanding the home's footprint to include extra bedrooms and a spacious family room.
